ITINERARY: 13 DAYS GRAND TOUR FROM TANGIER
DAYS 1: TANGIER– RIF MOUNTAINS – CHEFCHAOUEN:
The first day of your vacation begins with a pickup from your hotel or airport. From Tangier, you’ll be driven to Chefchaouen, a town in the Rif Mountains, for an amazing adventure. On the two-hour drive from Tangier, you’ll see picturesque cities and magnificent views of hills.
Arrive in Chefchaouen, check into a hotel or riad, and then begin your investigation. Famous for their signature blue tint, the city’s buildings help create an enchanting atmosphere. Indulge in some Moroccan cuisine at one of the many restaurants or cafés, or take a leisurely stroll around the Medina’s winding alleys and bustling souks.
DAY 2 : EXPLORE THE BLUE CITY OF CHEFCHAOUEN:
On the second day, we will go to Chefchaouen, well known as the blue city, to explore and marvel at its beauty. The bluewashed buildings and friendly locals give the city’s ancient medina an easygoing atmosphere. Find your way along the winding trails and narrow roads that traverse the northern slope.
square Outa el-Hammam is the major square, so take a stroll around it and eat at one of the many local restaurants.
Once you’ve climbed the hill to the city walls in the afternoon, follow the road to Hotel Atlas. From the rooftop, you might be able to obtain a nice view. Take a stroll up the hill to the white Spanish Mosque, and after 20 to 30 minutes of waiting, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the sunset behind the mountains. Don’t miss the eastward streets that lead there.
DAY 3: CHEFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FES:
On the third day, after breakfast, we will go to Fes via Chouchhaouen, Volubiles, Meknes, and eventually Fes. Our journey will include a visit to the UNESCO-protected Volubilis Roman Ruins. Established in the third century BCE and deserted over a thousand years later, this massive structure was once a prosperous Roman city in an outlying region.
Moving on, we reach Meknes, the capital of Morocco in the 17th century. Marvel at the iconic Bab el Mansour gate as you go through the picturesque walled old town. Take in the breathtaking gate sculptures and decorations at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, a sacred monument dedicated to the famous Sultan Moulay Ismail.
We’ll take a trip to Fes after lunch and spend the evening at a beautiful riad.
DAY 4: EXPLORE FES WITH A LOCAL GUIDE:
Meet our local guide after breakfast at your riad and then go on an exploration of the narrow, winding alleyways of the medinas of Fes, where you can learn about the city’s fascinating history and culture. The route of the exploration journey begins at the well-known Bab Boujeloud gate in Fes el Bali (789 ACE) and ends at the major road of Talâa Kebira.
You can see the architectural influences from Tunisia and Spain as you wander around the souks (markets) and stores looking for souvenirs and presents. Witness the Chouara Tannery’s ancient techniques first used in the eleventh century. After seeing the “new city” of Fes el Jdid (13th century), marvel at the elaborate zellij tile work of the 14th-century Al Attarine Madrasa.
From the cemetery and the old Jewish quarter known as the Mellah, you may enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Ville Nouvelle has undergone an incredible architectural change, which you should see if you can spare the time. The day will come to a close with some free time for you to explore Fes at your own speed before heading to your accommodation.
DAY 5: FES – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS – SAHARA DESERT:
After breakfast in your riad, we will go to Ifrane, sometimes nicknamed Morocco’s Switzerland, so you may snap breathtaking images and absorb in the beauty of the town. Our next stop is to Azrou’s cedar forest, home to a variety of playful monkeys.
Lunch was then grabbed in Midelt. During the middle of the day, we will proceed over the TIZI N TALGHAMT pass, which provides stunning vistas of the Ziz Valley and the surrounding canyons. On our journey to Erg Chebbi Dunes, we pass through the date-and fossil-rich towns of Aoufous and Erfoud. Learn more about this unique art form while seeing a fossil craft workshop.
You will be able to relax in your lodgings and have a delicious Berber lunch when we finally arrive to Erg Chebbi’s Merzouga Dunes. Unique and comfortable, the hotel is the perfect place to unwind and take in the serene beauty of the desert at night.
DAY 6: JOURNEY OF THE DESERT – VISIT NOMADS – CAMEL TREKKING – OVERNIGHT DESERT CAMP:
On the sixth day of our desert adventure, we will visit nomads, go camel trekking, and pitch our tent for the night.
Our excursion to Khamlia hamlet, where you may hear real Gnawa music set to mesmerizing rhythms, follows a delicious breakfast.
Next, we’ll veer off the main route to cross the dunes on an unpaved road, where we’ll drink tea with nomadic Berber villagers. This immersive experience will show you a new way of life and even let you enjoy Berber pizza for lunch.
To witness the breathtaking sunset, after you relax at the hotel in the late afternoon, you will prepare for an unforgettable camel ride into the heart of the dunes.
After a refreshing mint tea reception, guests may retire to their spacious tents, each with its own bathroom and shower, and relax as the Sahara comes alive with the changing light of night. A romantic dinner under the stars in the Sahara is enhanced when the group around the fire plays music as you eat.
DAY 7: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ARFOUD – TODGHA GORGES – DADS VALLEY:
If you don’t want to miss this breathtaking sight, rise and shine early today to witness the dawn’s stunning display of color and shadow on the dunes. After you have breakfast, you will climb back upon your camel and ride back to Merzouga. There, you will meet your driver and be taken to Dades Gorges.
The journey will include a visit at Rissani, a lively traditional market. A veritable kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and smells awaits you as you meander through its bustling streets on a market day (Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays).
Our next destination will be in Arfoud, where you have the opportunity to see petrified marble on exhibit at a workshop. Lunch is on the house as we go on through Touroug and Tinjdad’s picturesque palm plantations.
On the way there, we’ll stop at the Todgha Gorges. A River offers stunning canyons with red cliff sides, perfect for rock climbing. Spend as much time as you need to explore the gorges, wander around the stunning scenery, and soak in the beauty of nature.
On our way to the Dades Valley, we will go through Boumalne Dades. You should make a pit stop along the way to see the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations and a charming spot on top of a mountain that overlooks the Dades Valley. The day should conclude with dinner and a night at the hotel.
DAY 8: DADES GORGE – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS – MARRAKECH:
We will depart from Kalaa Magouna after breakfast and explore the rose valley. Come see the yearly Rose Festival in May, when vendors display an assortment of rose-themed goods, such as ornaments, oils, and perfumes. Along the way to Ouarzazate, you will pass the palm orchards of Skoura. Stop by Ouarzazate’s film studios, where countless famous films were shot.
We will begin our journey to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a walled settlement. Combatant, Alexander, The Mummy, and Diversion of Positions of Authority are just a few of the movies and TV series that have featured scenes shot at this magnificent Kasbah.
After touring this famous kasbah, we return to Marrakech via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We will have lunch and stop at several scenic areas along the way to get some photos. The day is rounded off with a night spent in a Riad in Marrakech.
DAY 9: GUIDED TOUR IN MARRAKECH WITH LOCAL GUIDE:
Join a guided tour of Marrakech, nicknamed the “Red City of Morocco,” following breakfast. Along your tour, you will stop at several sites that hold great cultural and historical importance, including as the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian tombs, and the famous Jemaa El Fna marketplace.
Afternoons are perfect for a stroll around Marrakech’s new city, where you can see the Koutoubia tower and the Majorelle Gardens. Final step: have you driven to your hotel. Go at your own leisure while you tour Jemaa El-Fna.
DAY 10: MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA:
The quaint coastal village of Essaouira awaits us on Day 10 of our journey from Marrakech. While taking in the breathtaking views, we’ll stop to observe the famous Argan tree goats. In the fourteenth century, Portuguese forts encircled Essaouira.
Discover the perfect combination of historic allure, brilliant colors, and surf in this lively fishing town. Whether you’re looking to relax on beautiful beaches or explore the UNESCO World Heritage site medina, Essaouira has something delightful in store for you. The medina is home to lively marketplaces and artisan stores.
Accessible from any of the city’s gates, the UNESCO World Heritage Site medina is a joy to wander around, with its charming blue door and window frames ensuring that you don’t get lost. Paradise for relaxation and cultural discovery, this fascinating beach is encircled by a medina. There are a lot of lovely cafes with terraces in the area where you may unwind in your spare time.

DAY 11: ESSAOUIRA – CASABLANCA – RABAT:
Eleventh Day: Essaouira to Casablanca and Rabat: After breakfast today, we will be taking a flight to Rabat. Travel down the coast, pausing to admire the breathtaking vistas. When you reach Casablanca, Morocco’s business hub, go down the Casablanca Corniche to view the country’s largest mosque, the majestic Hassan II Mosque. After you have your lunch, keep on driving to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, where you will spend the night.
DAY 12: RABAT – ASILAH – TANGIER:
Today, we will go from Rabat to ASILAH and then Tangier. After having breakfast at your accommodation, we will go exploring Rabat, the capital of Morocco. It is our intention to see the Hassan Tower and the Oudayas Kasbah. Next, we’ll make our way to Tangier, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean begin to mingle.
Make a detour to see Asilah, a walled seaside hamlet that combines Andalusian splendor with local vitality.
We next head to Tangier, a city with a fascinating history that you can discover at the magnificent Cape Spartal Beach and the mysterious Cave of Hercules. Once you’ve settled into your Tangier hotel or riad, it’s time to start exploring the city.
DAY 13 : TRANSFER YOU TO THE AIRPORT:
On the last day of your three-day Grand Tour from Tangier, we will collect you and transfer you to the airport, signaling the end of an incredible journey. See you on the road!
