ITINERARY OF 2 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES
DAY 1: FES – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS – SAHARA DESERT:
Starting from your accommodation in Fes, our driver will transport you to the Merzouga desert in Moring via Ifrane, Azerou, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara Desert on the first day of your tour. On the way, we’ll stop at Ifrane, which is sometimes referred to as Morocco’s Switzerland, so you can admire the picturesque town and snap some breathtaking photos. Our next stop is in the cedar forest of Azrou, home to a variety of playful monkeys.
We will stop at Midelt for lunch after a long ride across the Atlas Mountains in the middle. Our next stop is at the TIZI N TALGHAMT pass, from whence we can see the Ziz Gorges and Ziz Valley in all their glory.
On our journey to Erg Chebbi Dunes, we pass through the date-and fossil-rich towns of Aoufous and Erfoud. Take a tour of a fossil craft workshop and learn more about this uncommon art form.
You will check into your lodging and have a magnificent lunch accompanied by Berber music when we reach Erg Chebbi’s Merzouga Dunes after a lengthy journey. Enjoy the serene splendor of the desert at night from the comfort of our unique and charming hotel.
DAY 2: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ARFOUD – ZIZ VALLEY – MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS – FES:
On Day 2, you will go via Merzougha, Rissani, Arfoud, Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and Fes.
Do yourself a favor and rise early today to witness the breathtaking morning, when the dunes transform into a mesmerizing spectacle of light and shadow. You will return to Fes after breakfast, having ridden your camel back to Merzouga to meet your driver.
Along the way, we’ll stop at the lively Rissani traditional market. On market days (Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays), the streets come alive with a kaleidoscope of smells, colors, and sounds.
The next stop on our route is Arfoud, where you get the opportunity to see petrified marble on exhibit in a workshop. We continue our drive via the picturesque ZIZ VALLEY palm orchards and the central Atlas Mountains. Take you to your accommodation in Fes.
